The majority of Karlsruhe residents perceive the quality of life in the fan-shaped city as very good or good. This was the result of a citizen survey conducted by the city of Karlsruhe.

Numerous citizens had the opportunity to give their opinion on quality of life, climate protection and other criteria in the combined survey by mail and Internet. After an invitation to tender, PRODATA Datenbanken und Informationssysteme GmbH had been awarded the contract from among several providers and carried out the logistics support for the citizens’ survey. In the age of technology, in which much takes place on the Internet, the city of Karlsruhe also saw it as important to break new ground. For this reason, PRODATA had sent written invitations to participate in the citizen survey by mail, which included a password for direct access to the questions on the Internet. Likewise, a questionnaire could be requested from PRODATA by telephone and returned to the company by mail for evaluation.

After the data had been received by PRODATA, the recording and evaluation of the forms was carried out there. Special attention was paid to the highest security standards in order to preserve anonymity as well as data protection regulations. PRODATA had been awarded the contract for logistics support after a call for tenders and was commissioned with the complete project, i.e. with the printing and dispatch of the documents, the acceptance of the telephone questionnaire requests as well as with the collection and evaluation of the questionnaires.

The insights gained from the citizen survey now provide the city of Karlsruhe with reference points for future political decisions as well as a support for administrative work. “The results will also be incorporated into the integrated urban development concept ‘Karlsruhe 2020’, which is all about uncovering and making the most of the city’s potential in terms of sustainable urban development,” says Margret Mergen, First Mayor of the City of Karlsruhe. “We are pleased to have gained this insight into how our citizens feel from working with PRODATA.”
